Letter to Client: Typefaces

Dear Miss,

I just want to thank you for giving me this opportunity to create 3 prototype-typefaces consisting of 3 letters and 3 numbers. One digitally, one handwritten, and one sculptural. I'm quite excited to get started with these right away! I'm so eager. I have so much in mind. But my favorite idea that I think I'm going to stick with is a bridge theme of the 3 letters and 3 numbers. What I mean by that is having the lines in the letter, or number, cross each other, or intersect at some point. It may sound weird but sometimes weird is a good thing and I believe this is going to turn out pretty well. That is going to be the digital typeface. For my handwritten typeface, I plan to simply write out the 3 letters and 3 numbers with pictures that will construct the figure of the letter and number. This will first be done in pencil, in case i mess up or don't like it as much, and then colored in with sharpie/marker/colored pencils. Or I might just do bubble form letters and numbers and draw pictures on the inside to construct the image. It will still be done with the same materials as I listed before. Finally, for my sculptural typeface, I plan to get tires and lay them out to form the 3 letters and 3 numbers. Well, I hope you like my ideas so far! I'm so excited to get to work. Thanks again for this opportunity!

Sincerely,
Justin.

Helvetica

The movie Helvetica was different; it was a good different. I have never seen anything quite like it. It was something new and I learned a lot about font and also graphic design while watching the movie. There was so much cool information throughout the entire movie and I took quite a lot in. What really stood out to me was the very first font, that is used practically everywhere you turn, was in fact Helvetica. The font Helvetica is used today literally on everything. It is the font that started it all. It was born and raised in Germany and is still considered the most used font of the past centuries. There was a lot more that was in the movie and there is a lot more that could be said but that was the one big thing that stood out to me. I really enjoyed watching the movie and learning more about the font and the creation of other fonts.

What Is Graphic Design?

Graphic Design to me is the making and understanding of logos of brands, pictures, posters, paintings, drawings, or just art in general! Graphic Design can also be used to create logos or symbols or posters of anything and everything you can picture. You can see Graphic Design everywhere in the world. Almost every where you turn you see some different type of example of Graphic Design. Every day there are new elements of Graphic Design made. There is probably a new element being made right this very second as we speak! Some examples of Graphic Design that I see each day is the Jordan clothing line. Which ranges from shirts, shorts, shoes, underwear, socks, and even hats. Jordan is a huge name brand which stands out as one large Graphic Design element in our world. Another example of Graphic Design that I see almost every day is the Rock Revival Jean brand from the store BKE. A bunch of people have them and their "logo" is some type symmetrical design. It's hard to explain but it is a very popular jean brand, but also quite expensive.  Lastly, another example of a Graphic Design element that i see practically every day is the Hurley logo. It is also a clothing brand which is quite popular and a bunch of kids where it every single day. Its hard to explain but its also a symmetrical design.
